The Botanical Garden
Nestled in the 5ᵉ arrondissement of Paris, just a few minutes from the Hôtel du Jeu de Paume, the Jardin des Plantes is a veritable haven of peace where nature and science meet. Created in 1635 under Louis XIII as a royal garden of medicinal plants, today it is an emblematic site of the Muséum national d'Histoire naturelle, dedicated to the preservation and discovery of the plant and animal world.
A majestic rose garden, an alpine garden, flowering alleys and exotic greenhouses transport visitors to the four corners of the globe. The Great Greenhouses, in particular, allow visitors to explore a variety of climates, from tropical jungles to arid regions, offering a fascinating spectacle in every season.
Beyond botany, the Garden is also home to the Menagerie, one of the world's oldest zoos, home to rare and protected species. A place steeped in history, it is a center for conservation and education, raising public awareness of the need to protect biodiversity.
Once you've immersed yourself in this exceptional natural setting, it's a pleasure to continue exploring the Latin Quarter, strolling along the Seine or visiting the surrounding museums.
On foot, from the Hôtel du Jeu de Paume, located on the Île Saint-Louis, simply cross the Seine via the Pont de la Tournelle, then walk up rue Linné or rue Geoffroy-Saint-Hilaire towards the 5ᵉ arrondissement.
