Tina Barney exhibition
To mark its reopening after the Olympic Games and to celebrate its 20th anniversary, from September 28 to January 19 the Jeu de Paume will be devoting a major exhibition to the iconic American photographer Tina Barney. Entitled Family Ties, this retrospective - the largest ever organized in Europe - retraces over 40 years of her career.
Over the course of her career, the New York photographer has captured family dynamics with finesse and distance, creating masterfully composed portraits of American high society in the 70s and 80s. Her snapshot-like images gently evoke soap opera-like worlds such as Love, Glory and Beauty, with deliciously retro pastel hues. In addition to these works, the exhibition will also include some of his photographs made for fashion, luxury and celebrity magazines.
To do justice to the diversity of his work, the Jeu de Paume has selected 55 large-format photographs, mixing black & white, color, famous images and previously unpublished ones. A vibrant tribute to this great figure of American photography.
